WCSCD at the world bank spring meetings

In collaboration with the Business Council for International Understanding and Terumo BCT, our Coalition will host a high-level panel discussion on the margins of the Spring Meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank Group. The panel will bring together finance and health ministries, international finance institutions, global health organizations, the private sector, and civil society to soft launch the policy framework behind the Imara Programme that elevates affordable interventions in screening, diagnosis, treatment, and management. The dialogue will act as a platform to share best practices and educate government leadership and finance institutions on the urgency to act, discuss proven investment frameworks, and save the lives of children.

The Imara Programme, led by the WCSCD, aims to address this challenge through its multidimensional strategy adapted to Africa’s context. Its implementation, through a comprehensive, adequately resourced, and context-specific strategy, can transform SCD from being a major cause of childhood mortality into a manageable chronic condition within routine health systems, thereby enhancing both health outcomes and community resilience.
